Albania is an emerging yet still off-the-beaten-path destination offering pristine beaches, historic towns, mountainous terrain for hiking, a growing tourism infrastructure, and quintessential Mediterranean food and culture.
I was born in Albania’s colorful capital, Tirana, and though my family built a new life abroad after communism’s fall, Albania occupied a permanent place in my heart.
Returning years later, I found the country reborn with fresh energy. Gone were the gloomy communist flats that had lined the streets. Sleek modern highrises and cozy new cafes and shops took their place.
Seeing Albania rising and thriving lit my passion to share its renaissance. As someone with insider roots but an outsider’s eyes, I hope to reveal the dynamic new Albania, guiding curious visitors through my homeland’s rebirth.
