Albania has one hotel that calls itself fully halal — and another twenty that will quietly accommodate you if you ask.
Albania is quickly rising on the radar for Muslim travelers seeking authentic experiences, scenic beauty, and halal-conscious stays. With a majority-Muslim population and a history of religious coexistence, Albania is naturally aligned with halal values — but the hotel landscape is more nuanced than most guides admit.
This guide groups properties into three clear tiers so you know exactly what you’re booking, whether that’s a fully alcohol-free family hotel or a beachfront resort that will remove alcohol from your room on request.
How We Tier Halal-Friendly Stays
🟢 Tier 1 — Fully halal / alcohol-free. No alcohol on premises. Halal food served as standard. Often Muslim-owned.
🟡 Tier 2 — Muslim-friendly on request. Alcohol may be served in restaurants or at the pool, but is removed from guest rooms on request. Halal meals prepared with advance notice.
🟠 Tier 3 — Suitable with self-catering. Standard hotels in areas with strong halal food access nearby, or apartments with kitchens. Alcohol policies vary — verify before booking.
Listings are based on publicly available details from HalalBooking, Booking.com, and direct hotel disclosures. We recommend confirming halal preferences directly with the property before booking, especially for food requests requiring advance notice.
Tirana & Central Albania
🟡 Mondial Hotel, Tirana »
A modern 4-star hotel with rooftop views and a central location. Halal meals can be prepared upon request at the on-site restaurant Prit Pak. Alcohol may be removed from guest rooms upon request. (★★★★, $$)
🟡 Pandora Residence, Tirana »
Quiet boutique hotel located near the Grand Park. Some halal food is available and alcohol can be removed from rooms on request. Friendly English- and Turkish-speaking staff. (★★★, $)
🟠 Art Gallery Apartments, Tirana »

🟢 Hilal Palace, Golem »

🟡 Flower Hotels & Resort, Golem »
Large 5-star beach resort with two pools, spa, and family amenities. Listed on HalalBooking. Alcohol served in general areas but removed from rooms on request; halal meals available on request. (★★★★, $$–$$$)
🟢 Il Tramonto, Vorë (near TIA airport) »
Family-run halal hotel and restaurant with strict alcohol-free policy. Ten minutes from Tirana International Airport. Ideal stopover for observant travelers arriving late or departing early. (★★★, $)
Durrës Beach Strip
Durrës is where most Muslim families from Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Türkiye stay. The beachfront strip has the deepest halal infrastructure outside of Golem — multiple mosques, halal butchers, and Turkish restaurants within walking distance of most hotels.
🟡 Adriatik Hotel, BW Premier Collection, Durrës »
Historic 5-star beachfront resort, renovated in 2024. Booking.com explicitly lists halal as a cuisine option alongside Continental, Italian, Full English, and vegetarian. Alcohol served on property but removed from rooms on request when booked via HalalBooking. Large private beach, spa, and hammam. (★★★★★, $$–$$$)
🟡 Sol Tropikal Durrës »
4-star beachfront resort run by Meliá. Listed on HalalBooking with alcohol removal from rooms. Note: alcohol is heavily present on property (multiple bars, all-inclusive plans with cocktails). Good fit for families who want a large resort and don’t mind bars elsewhere on premises; not suitable for strictly observant travelers. Halal food available within 500m of the property. (★★★★, $$–$$$)
🟡 VH Eurostar Durres Hotel & Beach »
4-star beachfront hotel with kids’ club, games room, and babysitting services. Halal food available on request with advance notice. Alcohol removed from rooms when booked through HalalBooking. Family-oriented. (★★★★, $$)
Albanian Riviera (South Coast)
A practical note on the Riviera: dedicated halal food is scarce between Vlorë and Ksamil, with fewer Turkish or halal restaurants than the Durrës coast. Travelers who prioritize strict halal eating should consider self-catering or a half-board arrangement at a halal-friendly hotel.
🟡 Bougainville Bay Resort, Sarandë »
Family resort with private beach and multiple pools. Halal food options available on request. Alcohol removed from rooms upon request. (★★★★, $$–$$$)
🟢 Lezet Hotel & Restaurant, Sarandë »

Northern Albania & Shkodër
🟡 Rozafa Hotel, Shkodër »
Historic hotel in the city center. Halal menu available at the restaurant. Mosque within walking distance. (★★★, $$)
🟡 Tribute Hotel, Shkodër »
Contemporary hotel with modern rooms and friendly staff. Halal food served upon request. (★★★★, $$)
A Note on the Albanian Alps (Theth & Valbona)
We get asked about halal-friendly guesthouses in Theth and Valbona often, and we want to be direct: there are no certified halal-friendly properties in the Alps. Most mountain guesthouses are run by local families from the traditionally Catholic highland villages, and home-made raki and wine are served as part of the cultural experience of staying there.
If you want to hike the Alps as a Muslim traveler, two practical approaches work: (1) base yourself in Shkodër at Rozafa or Tribute and take day hikes into Theth; or (2) book a guesthouse as a place to sleep only and eat at your own discretion. Most hosts will respect if you decline meat at meals and request vegetarian or egg-based dishes.
Heritage Cities: Berat, Gjirokastër, Korçë
🟠 Hotel Mangalemi, Berat »
The first hotel to open in Berat after 1991, built into the historic Mangalem quarter, 100 meters from the King Mosque. Traditional Ottoman architecture, family-run, 9.7 Booking.com rating. Note: the hotel serves a traditional welcome liqueur and alcohol is available at the on-site restaurant — but the location is in Berat’s Muslim quarter with the call to prayer clearly audible and halal restaurants close by. Best for travelers comfortable with self-catering or who want to experience the heritage setting. (★★★★, $$)
🟠 Hostel Mangalem, Berat »
Budget traditional home in the heart of Mangalem, run by a local family. Shared kitchen makes self-catering easy. 9.5 Booking.com rating with warm host reviews. Not an alcohol-policy-managed property — bring your own preferences. (★, $)
🟢 Val-Mar Guest House, Gjirokastër »
Muslim-owned guesthouse in the Old Bazaar. Fully halal food, alcohol-free, and warm hospitality. (★★, $)
🟢 Te Sahati Hotel & Restaurant, Korçë »
Boutique hotel in the Old Bazaar with halal-certified meals and alcohol-free dining. (★★★, $–$$)
Tips for Halal Travel in Albania
- Use the Albanian word “hallall” when asking about halal food — every restaurant and grocer will understand.
- The strongest halal infrastructure sits in Tirana, Durrës, Shkodër, Berat, and Korçë. The Albanian Riviera (Vlorë to Ksamil) has the thinnest halal food access.
- Apartments with kitchens are the best self-catering solution — halal meat is widely available in Albanian supermarkets (look for “hallall” or imported from Türkiye and Kosovo).
- Friday prayer is observed in Tirana, Shkodër, Durrës, Korçë, Berat, Vlorë, Krujë, and Elbasan.
- Booking via HalalBooking rather than Booking.com for the same property usually ensures alcohol is removed from the room on arrival; booking direct and requesting it in writing also works but is less consistent.
Enjoy Your Albania Visit
With thoughtful planning and clear expectations about each property’s halal tier, you can enjoy Albania in a way that honors your values. From Hilal Palace on the Adriatic to Val-Mar in the stone streets of Gjirokastër, the options are fewer than in Türkiye but more affordable and culturally closer to home than you might expect. Safe travels, and may your journey be peaceful, halal, and full of barakah.
