Hi there,
I’m Ilia, but you can call me Dr. Z.
Before we step into the vibrant world of Albania together, I’d like you to know a bit about me – your guide.
My story is rooted in humble beginnings yet steeped in perseverance, determination, and a deep connection to my Albanian heritage.
I grew up in the quiet mountain village of Grabovë, near Përmet, where I fostered big dreams despite the limited opportunities surrounding me.
From a young age, I had a keen interest in languages, a trait that has been cherished and passed down through generations in my family.
This curiosity led me to English radio broadcasts, which opened up glimpses of life beyond the borders of Albania.
Despite the scarce resources available for learning English then, I was fortunate to grasp the language, paving a path to a future filled with opportunities I once only imagined.
My work afforded me the honor of becoming the first Press Secretary to the United Nations in New York City, representing Albania during a time of significant transformation.
As a diplomat, I found myself in a position to foster understanding and collaboration between Albania and the United States, helping to usher in a new era of openness and cooperation between the two nations.
Later, I taught English at various levels in the United States, sharing my love for language with students at the University of Texas at Arlington, Tarrant County College, and the Irving Independent School District.
Today, I am genuinely excited to share my knowledge and love for Albania as an author at AlbaniaVisit.com – the leading travel resource for tourists curious about Albania.
Through my writings, I hope to offer you a deeper insight into Albania’s rich history and vibrant culture, sharing the nuances that make our nation unique.
Currently, I teach English and Albanian, offering private tutoring lessons online.
Planning to visit Albania soon and wish to grasp the basics of the Albanian language?
Feel free to reach out – I’m happy to offer you a personalized learning experience.
